Fielded (Repairable) Systems Analysis
Making the Most Out of a Limited Data Set

Using RGA 6 PRO to analyze data for multiple fielded (repairable) systems allows you to get an overview of the system without having the detailed data requirements that would normally be required for system reliability analysis. RGA can combine the data from multiple systems into a single "superposition" system for the purpose of analysis. This combined system analysis can then be used to estimate the Optimum Overhaul Time (to achieve the lowest life cycle cost while maintaining a specified level of reliability), the Reliability or MTBF given time and other useful metrics.

In addition, you can use a sample from a fleet to estimate the fleet reliability and whether the reliability is stable or if there is a trend. The RGA 6 PRO fleet analysis evaluates reliability growth options and projects the corresponding fleet reliability improvement.

Data Entry and Management
The analysis requires the start time, end time and failure times for the observed operation of each system. If desired, you can take the chronological dates of system events into account for systems with staggering start times. In addition, you can incorporate failure mode identification, classification and effectiveness factors to take advantage of RGA's reliability growth projection capabilities, if desired. You can enter the data for all systems together or separately for each system using the Advanced System View.

The software provides built-in statistical tests to help you to evaluate the "fit" of the multiple system analysis (i.e. Chi-Squared GOF, Cramér Von Mises GOF, Laplace Trend Test) and even allows you to exclude specific data sets from the combined analysis, if appropriate.

Calculated Results and Plots
You can obtain calculated results for the analysis from the QCP, including Optimum Overhaul Time given repair and overhaul costs. In addition, the System Operation plot displays the failure times for each of the systems plus the combined "superposition" system.
