How
can I get it tomorrow? |
| |
"How
can I get it tomorrow?" has been the most often asked question of
managers and engineers who have reviewed the system. Unfortunately,
and even though we can install the system tomorrow, it is of no use
without the appropriate data feeds that provide the system with all
the information needed to perform the analyses and create the charts
and reports. In other words, its not only the kitchen sink that we
need, we also need the plumbing! The deployment time scale, as
well as the associated costs, are directly correlated to the extent
that your organization's existing data infrastructure satisfies the analysis
needs.
A typical
deployment requires the understanding of the existing data sources and a plan for how these data sources (disparate data sources in
most cases) can be leveraged/queried to consistently provide validated
data and subsequently valid, useful and meaningful graphical reports. Thus, the first step in the process is the creation of
the data plan. ReliaSoft experts are involved in this step to
assure implementation success. Once this step has been completed, a realistic
deployment time-frame can be determined.

What
is the implementation process? |
| |
- How
does the Dashboard map into my own data sources?
ReliaSoft's enterprise systems group will work closely with the
customer to determine the graphical reporting requirements and related data sources. ReliaSoft will then build data import
utilities to transfer and, where necessary, pre-process (clean and
validate) the data from existing data sources into the Dashboard database.
- What
types of data sources can the Dashboard system obtain data from?
In general, existing relational databases and systems (such as
ReliaSoft's XFRACAS) provide the most
straightforward and simplest implementation option. However, other
sources can also be utilized, such as flat files and system
generated e-mails, etc.
- We
have data collection deficiencies and need a better system to
collect data. Can ReliaSoft help?
Yes. ReliaSoft can help you with creating custom data collection
applications to improve the data collection process and the
quality of the data. Bar code technology and similar technologies
can be used to simplify the data collection process and minimize
the possibility of human error.

What
is the Licensing/Pricing structure for Dashboard? |
| |
The
product is always licensed enterprise wide and for an unlimited number of users.
Pricing is based on a fixed licensing fee plus
customization/implementation costs.
When it
comes to DASHBOARD implementations, every customer has different data
sources and different reporting requirements. ReliaSoft's enterprise systems group works closely with the customer to ensure that all customer
requirements are addressed as part of the implementation project. We
then create customized interfaces to meet your specific needs. As
such, the biggest component of costs involved in such a system are
these customization costs.
Since the
implementation costs are variable, the first deliverable of a Dashboard project is a project assessment along with a deployment plan. This will include time and costs estimates as well as fully documented
business requirements. There is a fixed fee for this phase. Once this phase has been completed, the customer has the option
to proceed with the full implementation, a scaled-down implementation or no implementation based
on the cost and time estimates. |
 |
What
databases do you support? |
| |
The Dashboard currently works with Microsoft SQL Server and ORACLE databases. Specifically, the Dashboard is compatible with Microsoft
SQL Server 7.0, SQL Server 2000, and ORACLE
8, 8i and 9i.
- Why
don't you support Access?
Microsoft Access is not a database designed for high-end enterprise systems
and cannot provide the security, scalability and robustness of a
full enterprise level database. However, an Access database could be one of the data sources used in a Dashboard implementation.
|
 |
What
other software/hardware do I need to deploy the Dashboard? |
| |
You
will need at least a Windows NT4 Server with IIS 4.0 and MTS, along
with a SQL Server 7.0 database or an ORACLE 8 database. (You
can also run this under newer versions, such as Windows 2000 Server,
IIS 5.0, COM+ along with SQL Server 2000 or ORACLE 8i or 9i.)
- Do I
have to buy SQL Server or ORACLE?
Yes. However, many companies already have a corporate-wide license for a database from one or both of these vendors. In cases where you
do not, we can fully assist you in purchasing and deploying
Microsoft's SQL Server. (ReliaSoft is a Microsoft Certified Partner and
authorized Microsoft reseller).
- Can
you recommend specific hardware for my deployment?
Yes. The hardware requirements are dependent on several
factors, including the number of expected users, the amount of data
and the expected data growth. Given that information, we can
provide you with our recommendations or work with your IT group to
determine the best use of existing hardware.
- Do I
need multiple servers?
Again, this is dependent on the load factors and your expected
usage levels. The Dashboard is based on the Windows DNA architecture and is
fully scalable and portable. It can be installed and deployed on a
single server or it can be spread out over multiple servers, with
clusters and farms to get the reliability and scalability
necessary for your business.
|
 |
Can
I provide different levels of access to different users? |
| |
Yes. There are multiple permission levels for each user. A system administrator can easily set different
permission levels for each user through the
User Maintenance page. |
