Quick
Overview of Analysis Steps You start the analysis by selecting either an existing MPC database or creating a new one. A simple wizard guides you step-by-step through the process to create an MPC database. To speed and simplify the process of defining the Maintenance Significant Items (MSIs) for a particular analysis, the full list of ATA system and subsystem numbers and descriptions (e.g. 71 = Power Plant) are automatically embedded in each MPC database and the database owner has the ability to manage and maintain these lists (Fig. 2). Within the active database, the analyst (or analysis group) works on one or more projects within the database using an intelligently designed project window. The project window can simultaneously display the hierarchy for the systems, subsystems, subsubsystems and parts included in the analysis as well as the related functions, failures, effects, causes and tasks that have been defined for each MSI. With this flexible interface, you have the ability to hide or display specific portions of the analysis and also use zoom capabilities to focus on a particular portion of the analysis. Additionally, you can also have multiple projects open simultaneously and copy entire systems or portions of a system (including any associated analysis) from one project to another.
