In this issue of Reliability Edge, we have once again attempted to bring you a combination of theoretical and practical/applied discussions of reliability techniques.

On page 1, Dr. Larry Crow’s article presents his methods for repairable system data analysis using the Power Law model. This includes an example application to reduce the life cycle costs associated with a fleet of systems.

On page 10, we provide a sneak preview of a new utility that will be added to the ALTA software. This article describes the theoretical background for the accelerated test planning techniques encapsulated in the new tool, along with an example application.

On page 19, we present a twist on common reliability analysis techniques by applying Weibull analysis to financial data. By converting account information to “failures” and “suspensions,” you can make “life” estimates that are useful for asset valuation and other decisions.

We have also included a brief summary of the Applied Reliability Symposium held recently in San Diego. On a personal note, I appreciated the opportunity to meet and talk with many of you at the event. Thanks to all presenters and attendees for your enthusiasm and your willingness to share experiences with the reliability community!
