Defining an Equation Variable

An Equation Variable stores a string expression to be evaluated. The expression can include numerical values, standard operands (+, -, *, / ), intrinsic functions (exp, log, sin, etc.), certain reserved keywords and references to any other defined variable (except for Functions). Enter the equation manually or use the Function Wizard to supply defined variables, reserved keywords and built-in functions.

You can press Ctrl+Space to bring up a menu of Definitions and available keywords for use in the equation. Recognized Definitions and keywords are automatically color coded to assist in reading the equation. When the cursor is positioned on the name of a recognized Definition, a preview of the variable's properties is displayed in the bottom left corner of the window along with a button that allows you to view/edit the full properties of the defined variable.
