Hugh
Broome is an Associate Professor in the Department of Engineering Technology at
East Tennessee State University. He has a MA degree in Mathematics from
East Tennessee State University and a MS in Reliability Engineering from the
University of Arizona. He has over thirty years of experience in teaching
electronics and manufacturing courses as well as courses in SPC, quality and
reliability engineering, and operations research. Hugh Broome spent several years as an associate with McElrath and Associates, Management and Engineering Consultants. During this time he taught reliability engineering principles to more than twenty groups of engineers and management personnel at Delco Electronics. Also as an associate with McElarth, he taught SPC procedures to engineering and production personnel at Snap-On-Tools and Sprague Electric Corporation. In total he has taught more than fifty short courses in Reliability and Quality Engineering Hugh Broome has consulting and engineering experience in Reliability and Quality with several companies as well as with the US Army and NASA where he had a fellowship. He is both a certified Quality Engineer (CQE) and a Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE). He was the author of the Reliability and Risk Management: The American Society for Quality’s (ASQ) Foundations in Quality (Learning Series), published by The Holmes Corporation, Minneapolis, MN. He is a senior member of the ASQ. He has received the Recognition of Leadership and Distinguished Service as an Instructor award from the Directors of the ASQ and a Certificate of Excellence in Instructional Service and Dedication from the Education and Development Board of the ASQ. He was the 1991 recipient of the Austin Bonis Award given for outstanding contributions to reliability engineering education by the Reliability Division of ASQ. |
