Frequently Asked Questions
How far ahead do I need to register for a course?
In general, the sooner the better. Certain seminars do sell out. Therefore, it would be best to register as soon as you have made your decision to attend.
How important are the specified prerequisites?
Very important. Even though ReliaSoft will allow you to register without having attended the prerequisite course(s), we strongly advise against it unless you already possess equivalent knowledge. Our instructors assume that the prerequisite knowledge is present and, to be fair to all, will not regress to cover prerequisite material.
Who is the instructor?
The pool of instructors for ReliaSoft’s training courses includes some of the creators of ReliaSoft’s software and experienced practitioners from both academia and industry. Short biographies for current instructors are posted on the website. The instructor for any particular seminar is selected based on the topic and individual availability. To inquire about the instructor assigned to a specific event, please contact ReliaSoft.
Will the seminar be held at ReliaSoft’s R&D facility?
No. Public training seminars are held in various US and international locations at hotels or training centers that have been selected to provide comfort and facilitate instruction. For more information, please review the "Venue" information provided on the website for the specific seminar that you will be attending.
Do I need to make room reservations at the hotel?
Yes. Although we usually arrange a block of rooms (at special rates) at the hotel where the training is being held, ReliaSoft does not make individual room reservations. You will need to contact the hotel on your own.
May I use my own laptop?
Yes. We encourage you to bring your own laptop for courses that feature hands-on software training. If you do not have the applicable software already installed, you must make sure that you have the appropriate permissions to install educational (expiring) versions of the tools. If you are not sure, please contact your IT department in advance. In some venues, ReliaSoft may offer to provide a PC for an additional rental fee. When available, this option will be displayed when you register for the course.
Are class materials sent to attendees prior to the event?
No. However, if you wish to familiarize yourself with the subject prior to the event, theoretical references for some topics (including in-depth eTextbooks) can be found on the Web at http://weibull.com. You can also download a training guide and evaluation copy of the software from ReliaSoft.com.
Will I earn continuing education credits (CEUs)?
Yes. Attendees are eligible for 0.1 educational units per contact hour. In addition, you can earn credit toward certification under the Certified Reliability Professional (CRP) program. The eligible credits for each course are listed on the website.
I attended one of your courses several years ago; should I take it again?
ReliaSoft’s training courses are updated in response to advances within the discipline and enhancements to our software, and attending a newer version of the same course may help you to stay current and update your skills. Although it varies by course, the average time between significant updates tends to be approximately three years and ReliaSoft offers a 50% discount for such registrations.
What happens if I am not able to attend a seminar that I registered for?
Depending on the nature of your registration and when you notify ReliaSoft of your change in plans, you may have the option to substitute another person to attend the seminar in your place, transfer to another upcoming scheduled seminar or, with sufficient advanced notice, cancel for a full refund. Specific conditions are listed in your registration form.
